Farmers are often forced to sell to middlemen who then sell to other middlemen, who then sell to auctions before the seed reaches exporters. This lengthy process significantly reduces the value that farmers receive for their crop.
This current model also eliminates traceability of seed from farm to market, leaving customers with no visibility of the seed’s true origins.
